Bachelor of Business Analytics (Hons) at Sunway U: Fees
Bachelor of Business Analytics (Hons) at Sunway University costs RM 39,600/yr (RM 118,800 total). Fee table, living costs, English and visa rules.
The direct answer
The Bachelor of Business Analytics (Hons) at Sunway University is listed at RM 39,600 per year (RM 118,800 total) for the full three-year programme, according to the official institution page (sunwayuniversity.edu.my). Intakes run in January, April and September, and the award is a Sunway University degree — not a dual award with Lancaster, unlike some of the other Sunway programmes listed below.
That per-year figure and that total figure are two different things. When a counsellor, a bank or a sponsor asks "how much is the course", be clear which one you are quoting. The annual number is what you budget for each academic year; the total is what the whole degree costs in tuition alone, with nothing else included.
Fee table: Business Analytics next to the other Sunway bachelor's degrees
Students who shortlist Business Analytics almost always compare it against Computer Science, IT, AI or International Business at the same campus. Here is what the official programme pages give:
| Programme (Sunway University) | Tuition | Duration | Intakes | Award |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Business Analytics (Hons) | RM 39,600/yr (RM 118,800 total) | 3 yr | Jan · Apr · Sep | Sunway degree |
| BSc (Hons) International Business | RM 39,600/yr (RM 118,800 total) | 3 yr | Jan · Apr · Sep | Sunway degree |
| BSc (Hons) Computer Science | RM 39,800/yr (RM 119,400 total) | 3 yr | Jan · Apr · Sep | Dual award with Lancaster University (UK) |
| BSc (Hons) Information Technology | RM 39,800/yr (RM 119,400 total) | 3 yr | Jan · Apr · Sep | Sunway degree |
| BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence | RM 39,800/yr (RM 119,400 total) | 3 yr | Jan · Apr · Sep | Sunway degree |
| BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance (3+0 Lancaster) | RM 40,500/yr (RM 121,500 total) | 3 yr | Jan · Apr · Sep | Dual award with Lancaster University (UK) |
Two things worth noticing. First, the tuition differences between these six degrees are small — do not pick the course by fee. Pick it by what you want to do, because the money difference is not what will change your life. Second, only two of the six carry the Lancaster dual award. If a UK-branded testamur is what your family is paying for, Business Analytics is not the one that delivers it.
If you later want the postgraduate route at the same university: the Master of Business Analytics is listed at RM 49,940 total over 1 year, and the Sunway MBA at RM 80,340 total over 2 years, with January, April and August intakes.
Sunway University sits in Bandar Sunway and is placed at #354 in the QS World University Rankings 2027 (confirmed via Sunway's own site, August 2026; it had been #410 the previous year).
What you pay on top of tuition
Tuition is never the whole bill. These are the published cost components for the Sunway City area and the EMGS process. I am deliberately listing them separately rather than adding them together — your family should do that sum with a live exchange rate in front of you.
Living costs in Subang Jaya / Sunway City
| Item | Published range |
|---|---|
| Shared accommodation | RM 180–300 |
| Studio | RM 300–500 |
| Total monthly budget | RM 1,700–2,600 |
| Campus residence | Sunway Monash Residence (verify directly) |
| Transport | Best suburban transit in the country — BRT Sunway Line into Klang Valley |
Across Malaysia overall the working figure is RM 1,500–2,500 per month, far below Sydney, London or Toronto. Sunway City is one of the few Malaysian campus locations where you may not need a car or heavy Grab spending, which matters more to a monthly budget than most families expect. Other cities are market ranges only — always confirm on the institution's own accommodation page. More location-by-location detail is on the Malaysia destination hub.
One-off and first-year process costs
| Item | Published figure |
|---|---|
| EMGS Year 1 | RM 2,000 |
| Medical | RM 275 |
| Planning baseline, living (per year) | RM 24,000 |
| Planning baseline, tuition — Bachelor at a private university | RM 28,000 |
Read that last row carefully. RM 28,000 is a generic planning baseline for a bachelor's degree at a Malaysian private university — it is not the Business Analytics fee. The Business Analytics fee is RM 39,600 per year. Use the real programme figure in your financial documents, not the baseline.
The funds figure nobody can give you
EMGS and Immigration publish no single statutory minimum funds figure. The planning estimate above is built from published Year-1 EMGS and medical costs plus a typical living-cost baseline. Where a family is applying, the model applies a multiplier: 1 for a student alone, 1.5 for student plus spouse, 1.8 with one child, 2.1 with two children. Confirm the exact amount Sunway and EMGS want to see at the time you apply — that is the only number that counts.
Entry and English
For a Sunway bachelor's degree the English requirement is IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.5 (Communications and Psychology ask 6.5). Alternatives accepted include TOEFL iBT 60–85 by level, PTE 46–60, MUET Band 3–4, and Duolingo 100+ on a programme-specific basis.
The waiver is where Nepali applicants get caught. Sunway's published waiver wording refers to CBSE/ISC English at 70% or above (80% for demanding courses) plus English-medium schooling. NEB is not named in that wording. If your Class 12 board is not explicitly covered, assume you need an external test — the safe target for a bachelor's admission and a smooth Student Pass is IELTS 6.0–6.5. Borderline scores get a waiver request refused far more often than families expect, and the re-test costs you an intake.
If you are below the target, Sunway runs the Intensive English Programme (IEP), roughly 10 weeks per level, at RM 3,000–3,800 per level, with exit at Level 4/5 equivalent to IELTS 5.5/6.0. In-house programmes like this are EMGS-recognised for the Student Pass. Budget the extra weeks and the extra levels into your plan; students routinely need more than one.

Visa process and the errors that cause delays
Budget three to four months end-to-end for Student Pass approval through EMGS once you have the offer letter. Start the day you accept — Nepali, Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi applications tend to get more thorough document and financial verification, so there is no slack in the timeline.
What EMGS expects to see:
- Offer letter from an EMGS-approved institution, conditional or unconditional
- Passport valid at least 12–18 months beyond the intended study period
- Attested academic transcripts and certificates for the qualification used for admission
- English proficiency proof, or an institution English-medium/waiver letter
- Financial proof — bank statements, fixed deposits, or a sponsor/scholarship letter covering tuition plus living for at least one year
- eVAL, issued after EMGS approval
- Single Entry Visa, applied for via the official eVISA portal using the eVAL, before you travel
- Pre-departure medical, plus the mandatory post-arrival medical within 7 days of landing
- Health insurance for the study period, usually bundled into the EMGS fee quote
- Passport photos to EMGS specification
The two failures I see most: a passport with too little validity left, and financial proof that covers tuition but not living costs. The requirement says tuition plus living for at least one year. Also, do not book your flight before the eVAL and the Single Entry Visa are both in hand.
After graduation — be honest with your family now
Malaysia does not offer a broad open post-study work visa like Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Staying on means an employer sponsors an Employment Pass after a job offer, and from 1 June 2026 the EP salary floors make this harder for fresh graduates, because many entry-level jobs pay below the threshold.
During the course, Student Pass conditions allow part-time work up to 20 hours per week during scheduled breaks and holidays only — not during term — and subject to university approval. Do not build your tuition plan around part-time earnings.
Treat Sunway as a cost-effective degree at a recognised university and a stepping stone to a postgraduate course or a job at home or elsewhere. More country comparisons are in the guides section.
Common questions
How much is the Bachelor of Business Analytics (Hons) at Sunway University in total?
The official programme listing gives RM 39,600 per year, and RM 118,800 as the total for the three-year degree. That total is tuition only. Accommodation, food, transport, the RM 2,000 EMGS Year-1 cost and the RM 275 medical sit on top of it.
Is the Business Analytics degree a Lancaster dual award?
No. The Bachelor of Business Analytics (Hons) is awarded as a Sunway University degree. At Sunway, the dual award with Lancaster University applies to BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance (3+0 Lancaster) and BSc (Hons) Computer Science among the programmes listed here.
Do I need IELTS, or will my Class 12 English be accepted?
Sunway's bachelor requirement is IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.5, and alternatives such as TOEFL iBT 60–85 by level, PTE 46–60 or Duolingo 100+ depending on the programme. The published waiver route names CBSE/ISC English at 70% or above with English-medium schooling; NEB is not named. If you are borderline, sit the test — the external score is preferred and it removes the risk.
How early should a Nepali student start the Sunway application?
Work back three to four months from your intake for the EMGS Student Pass alone, and start that clock the moment you accept the offer. Sunway's intakes are January, April and September. Add extra months if you still need IELTS or the Intensive English Programme, which runs roughly 10 weeks per level.
