Keele MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics Fees (Band 5) for Nepal
Keele's Band 5 MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics is £25,600 per year over 2 years. Fees, visa money and living costs explained for Nepali students.
The direct answer: what Band 5 costs at Keele
The MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics (pre-registration) at Keele University sits in Band 5, and the international tuition fee is £25,600 per year. The course runs for 2 years, with a September intake only, and leads to an MSc.
That "per year" matters more here than on any other Keele course on this page. Almost every other taught masters at Keele is a one-year course, so the published fee is the whole tuition bill. Band 5 is not. You will be charged the annual fee in each year of the course, so ask the admissions team in writing what the Year 2 fee will be before you pay a deposit. How Band 5 compares with Keele's other postgraduate bands
Keele prices its taught masters by band. Seeing the whole table stops a family assuming that "a Keele masters" costs one number.
| Keele band | Example courses | International fee | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Band E | LLM Law with SQE Preparation | £14,700 | 1 yr |
| Band 0 | MA Creative Writing, English Literatures, History, Education, Politics & IR, MSc Social Research | £17,100 | 1 yr |
| Band 1 | Most Business & Management masters plus the MBA | £18,200 | 1 yr |
| Band 2 | MA Creative & Cultural Industries, MSc Occupational Therapy, MSc Physiotherapy | £20,800 | 1-2 yrs |
| Band 5 | MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics (pre-registration) | £25,600/yr | 2 yrs |
Two things to read off that table. First, Band 5 is the most expensive postgraduate band shown, and it is also the only one with a stated two-year duration. Second, if a student is comparing allied health options at Keele, MSc Physiotherapy and MSc Occupational Therapy sit in Band 2 at £20,800 — a different band, a different fee, and you should confirm the duration of each separately rather than assuming they match.
Keele's undergraduate fees are banded the same way: £17,100 / £18,200 / £20,800 / £22,000 / £23,400 / £25,600 / £29,800 per year, depending on band.
What the tuition fee does not cover
The fee on your offer letter and CAS is tuition only. The Home Office charges are separate, and a Nepali family budgeting only for tuition is the family that runs short in month four.
| Item | Amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Student visa application fee | £558 | Paid at application |
| Immigration Health Surcharge | £1,035 per year | Charged per year of the visa granted, not per year of the course |
| TB test certificate | £65 | Required for Nepalese applicants on courses longer than 6 months, from a UKVI-approved clinic |
| Maintenance funds to show | £1,136 per month outside London, for up to 9 months — £10,224 | Keele is outside London for this purpose |
The maintenance figure carries a catch that matters specifically on a two-year course: maintenance is capped at 9 months regardless of how long the course is, and it is required in addition to the tuition shown on your CAS. So the £10,224 is what the visa caseworker checks. It is not what two years of living at Keele actually costs. Do not confuse the visa floor with your real budget.
The 28-day rule — where most refusals happen
The maintenance amount must sit in the account for 28 consecutive days, and the end of that 28-day period must be within 31 days of the date you apply. This is the single most common refusal point we see. A deposit that lands on day 20 and drops the balance below the required amount resets the clock. If the money is in a sponsor's name, you need the relationship evidence, the sponsor's consent letter and their bank statements — check whose name is on the account before you submit, not after.
Living costs at Keele
Keele is a self-contained campus in Staffordshire, in the West Midlands, and is outside London for visa purposes.
| Figure | |
|---|---|
| Visa minimum | £1,136/month |
| Realistic monthly spend (estimate) | £800 - £1,150/month |
| On-campus rent (estimate) | £450 - £700/month |
The "realistic" and "rent" columns are estimates built from sector norms, not official published figures. They are here so that no family budgets to the visa floor and then runs short.
One practical date: Keele guarantees on-campus accommodation if the student applies by 30 June for a September start. For a two-year course with a September-only intake, that is a date to diary early.
Entry, English and the catches before you accept
English language
Keele publishes its English requirement on each course page, not as one university-wide figure. The postgraduate bar is set per course. You will see IELTS 5.5 with 5.5 in all subtests quoted on Keele's Politics and International Relations course page — that is a real published example for that course, not a universal Keele bar, and you should not assume it applies to a pre-registration clinical MSc. Read the Prosthetics and Orthotics course page itself and ask admissions to confirm in writing. Most UK institutions expire an English test at two years.
The fee increase clause
Keele caps any 2026/27 fee increase at 5% and notifies by 30 April 2026. On a two-year course, a capped increase applies to a second year of fees as well as the first — another reason to get the Year 2 figure confirmed in writing.
Separately, be aware that placement levies exist at some UK institutions and are charged on top of tuition. Ulster, for example, charges a clinical placement levy of £12,133 on relevant programmes. We have no Keele figure of that kind in front of us — so ask Keele directly whether any placement, uniform, DBS or equipment charge applies to this MSc. Do not assume there is none just because nobody mentioned it.
Dependants
For a taught postgraduate course starting on or after 1 January 2024, dependants are not permitted. Only a PhD or other doctorate, or a research-based higher degree, qualifies — or a government-sponsored student on a course longer than 6 months. A taught MSc does not. If you are married and planning for your spouse to travel with you, have that conversation at the first counselling meeting, not after the deposit.

Common questions
Is the £25,600 the total cost of the Keele MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics?
No. £25,600 is the fee per year, and the course runs for 2 years. Keele caps any 2026/27 increase at 5% and notifies by 30 April 2026, so the second-year figure is not automatically identical to the first. Ask admissions to confirm both years in writing before you pay a deposit.
How much money do I need to show in the bank for a Keele student visa?
Keele is outside London, so the maintenance requirement is £1,136 per month for up to 9 months — £10,224 — and that is on top of the tuition shown on your CAS. The 9-month cap applies even though this course is 2 years long. The money must be held for 28 consecutive days, ending within 31 days of your application date.
Can I bring my wife or husband on this course?
No. Dependants are not permitted on a taught postgraduate course starting on or after 1 January 2024. Only a PhD, another doctorate, or a research-based higher degree restores dependant rights, or government sponsorship on a course longer than 6 months. A pre-registration MSc is a taught course.
How long can I stay and work in the UK after graduating?
The Graduate Route length depends on your application date, not your course dates. A bachelor's or master's graduate applying on or before 31 December 2026 gets 2 years; anyone applying on or after 1 January 2027 gets 18 months. Doctorate graduates get 3 years. Work out your likely completion date on a two-year course and check which side of that line you fall on.
